Top 10 Best Ways To Wake Up

splashing rain from the gutter

Let me just say this…I don’t like waking up. I actually don’t like going to sleep either, however, it is SO MUCH easier for me to fall asleep than it is to wake up. I mean, seriously, how many people do you know who can go to bed and in ten seconds be sound asleep…every single night? Yet, in the morning, it takes more than five alarms to wake me up. It is pathetic!

Since I’m not a morning person and I find the actual experience of waking up to be a torturous experience, it is a double whammy. Yes, I know the alternative to not waking up. (rolling my eyes) However, there are some ways to wake up that are much more pleasant than having a ==BLARING== alarm clock aggravate you from across the room. Especially since my experience goes something like this…I LEAP out of bed, my foot kicks a piece of furniture and I start jumping up and down, holding my foot in pain while still trying to get to the alarm clock. Before I can turn off the alarm clock, another alarm clock on the other side of the room starts ==BLARING==. Believe me, this is not a fun scenario.

There are alternative ways to wake up in the morning than the horrendous experience I usually have each day.

Top 10 Best Ways To Wake Up

    10. Beautiful music – I usually set my alarm clocks on the most obnoxious radio station I can find at full volume, so waking slowly to gorgeous music is a much more delightful experience.
    9. Sunshine – I love waking up with the warm sunshine on my face. That doesn’t happen in the mornings because I have to get up so early, but I do get to enjoy it when I take a nap on the weekend.
    8. Smell of delicious food – It has been so long since I’ve had food wake me up in the morning that it almost seems like a dream. However, I do know that delicious food wafting through the air to awaken my sleeping brain is a lovely alternative.
    7. Doggy licks – Yes, I sleep with Bella and if she wakes up first, her sweet little licks on my arm are just so adorable.
    6. A massage – Mmmmm…I love massages and having my body wake up in such a lovely way is simply wonderful.
    5. The sound of rain hitting the window – I love, love, love rain and especially the sound of rain hitting the roof, door or window. Waking up to the drops as they splash all over everything is very peaceful.
    4. Knowing that it is a holiday or the weekend – Obviously, no matter when or how I wake up in the morning, if it is a holiday or weekend, I find it much more enjoyable!
    3. Children happily singing or playingAlyssa sings like an angel and who wouldn’t enjoy waking up to the sound of an angel singing?
    2. Sex – What can I say except that you shouldn’t knock it until you try it. :D
    1. Naturally – The absolute BEST way to wake up is completely naturally – no noise, no alarms, no rush. To just sleep until my body and mind wake up is the BEST waking experience. It doesn’t happen often, but when it does, it is as wonderful as…a Krispy Kreme Doughnut.

Now you know my Top 10 Best Ways To Wake Up. How do you like waking up in the morning? Go ahead and tell me. You can be honest. :D

I love waking up to the gentle touch of a loved one. However, that’s not something I’ve experienced in many years. Being wakened by dog kisses, or bird songs, are also wonderful ways of wakening, but I haven’t had a dog in many years either, & I don’t hear much in the way of sweet bird song around where I live now. There was a time when my favorite way to sleep, and therefore also to wake, was in my bunk in the fo’c’sle of our family sailboat. The sound of waves lapping against the wooden hull, & the gentle rocking of the boat, are among my favorite sensations. As it stands now, my favorite way of wakening is just that – to waken, without any sound or sensation, when I’ve slept fully and am ready to wake.

Speaking of waking, I tend to sleep very deeply – so much so that alarm clocks very rarely waken me, & I’ve actually slept through earthquakes! The one sure way to waken me is by the phone. Yeah, I do sometimes arrange for wake-up calls if I really need to be awake at a certain time! :)

Hello Child, Rise and shine!! You left out how you hated it and I was surprised! LOL. I do not get up happy like that anymore. You two girls made my life so happy and getting up to serve you each day and to grow up was the best way to wake up. Also hearing Brittany and Alyssa say, ” Wake up Nanny, I am hungry.” lol I miss the feel of little kisses on my face and Brit used to give me butterfly kisses. This is the best way to wake up and after almost 69 years I know I have had the best ways. Have a beautiful day. Your new life awaits you. PS, I wake up now wondering where am I and what day is it or is it still night. LOLOLOL

I reread what you wrote and I misread it first thing this morning! Sorry. No, I didn’t mention the “Rise and Shine” because as the years have passed, it has become more of a fond recollection than an aggravation. I would LOVE you to tell me to “Rise and Shine” now because my alarms drive me crazy!!!!

Sorry you don’t wake up happy. Hope you have a nice day.

I am woken each morning by Lady Gaga informing me that she wants my loving and not my revenge! – Well I had to set my alarm to something didn’t I :D

I would most like to be woken by golden sunlight breaking a small gap in the curtains to form beams of magical light that reflect golden across the room. I would like to wake to the aroma of coffee permeating the air from a kitchen busy with the sound of laughter. …And most of all, I would like to be woken with time to breath and contentment with the world that surrounds me.

Lady Gaga wants your loving. LOL That is cute! I definitely won’t be choosing Lady Gaga for my wake up song. I think something more on the lines of Michael Buble or Kenny Chesney would be better for me, however, even their music wouldn’t wake me up! It is just pathetic that I have such a hard time waking up! LOL You know though, if Kenny Chesney would wake me up in person, I bet I would have NO PROBLEM waking up! LOL

The way you want to wake up with the golden sunlight gave me a total visual. It sounds lovely!!!

I love rain no matter what it is hitting, but windows and tin roofs are among my favorites.
